Driving the Future: The Evolution of AUTOSAR to Adaptive AUTOSAR

AUTOSAR is an open and standardized automotive software architecture meant to provide standardization in interfaces between application software and basic vehicular functions. It helps in establishing common ECU software architecture for all the AUTOSAR members.

AUTOSAR consists of hundreds of software modules structured in different layers, and is intended to provide easy integration and exchange of functions in complex ECU network and control over the entire product lifecycle.

The AUTOSAR architecture has three main components: Basic Software Architecture, AUTOSAR Runtime Environment, and Application Layer. Recently, the development of mega-trends like Autonomous Driving, V2X Connectivity, and Predictive Maintenance has led to the creation of a new version of AUTOSAR called Adaptive AUTOSAR which is designed to be more scalable and has a dynamic architecture capable of updating and supporting high-tech software features in a vehicle.
